The surface to be painted has to be prepared first.

 

We wash the part with an alkaline degreaser to remove dirt, dust, oil and grease left from previous manufacturing operations.

 

Then we rinse the part with water following an application of phosphate to form a phosphate layer. This layer will help the paint stick to the part, and prevents corrosion from forming between the part and the paint.

 

The part is rinsed two more times, and dried in an oven. 

At EZ Finishers, Inc the coating is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin".

 

The static charge helps attract the paint to the part, and helps cover the part evenly. It is used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
